The Rocks Village Bizarre Event Year 1
Event Identity / Promotion / Activation

Weirdly wonderful.

Ghoulish butchers recounting gory details of murder, giant rabbits down dark laneways and large men in silver spandex leotards dancing in brightly lit shop windows … just a regular Friday night in The Rocks really! Well, not quite.

The Rocks Village Bizarre was The Rocks at its most weirdly wonderful. It was an event in the laneways that revealed a twist at every turn. Michael and Simon from Amplifier created the brand Identity and a full suite of print, digital and environmental materials along with a thematic teaser movie (Come to the Village) to promote the event.

Down the rabbit hole.

The White Rabbit (hop-up) bar was created as Sydney’s (and probably the world’s) first ‘rabbits only’ venue.*  The bar design transformed a vacant shop into an extraordinarily eccentric burrow full of eclectic oddities that even Lewis Carol in his most ‘inspired’ state would have found intriguing. It was a place where a frisky fluffle of rabbits would dance the night away to the sound of underground beats. Reports from the dance floor suggest Hip-Hop was a popular request, but I have learned to never trust a DJ wearing rabbit ears.

* Rabbit masks were supplied to mere humans at the door by, who else but … the bouncer.
